MEMBERSHIP
The Association currently brings together more than 100 members from research and healthcare institutions in Lithuania and abroad. Any citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, as well as any foreign national permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania, who supports and endorses the Association’s objectives, activities, and Statutes may become a member of the Lithuanian Neuroscience Association.
A person wishing to join the Association must submit an application for membership to the Board, together with a recommendation from one Association member or honorary member, and complete the membership form. Membership becomes effective once the membership fee has been paid and the applicant has been added to the membership register. The annual membership fee is €30, or €15 for students. LNA members are also collective members of FENS — the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies. Registered FENS members receive regular updates from FENS by email and have full access to publications in the European Journal of Neuroscience, as well as selected other publications.
SCHOLARSHIPS

The LNA awards 2–3 scholarships annually to Association members planning to participate in scientific conferences, seminars, training courses, or other professional development activities in Lithuania or abroad. The scholarships are intended to partially cover registration fees, travel, accommodation, or other expenses related to participation in the relevant activity.

Regulations Governing the Award of Scholarships by the Lithuanian Neuroscience Association
Scholarship applications are accepted only from LNA members. Scholarships may be awarded only to members who joined the LNA at least 24 months before the date on which the application is considered and who have paid at least two annual LNA membership fees.
Applications must be submitted using the designated application form (Annex 1).
Two recommendations must be submitted together with the application (Annex 2). At least one recommendation must be provided by an LNA member.
Scholarship applications are considered by the LNA Board four times per year, on the first working day of each quarter, namely the first working day of January, April, July, and October.
A person who has received an LNA scholarship may apply for another scholarship only after a period of two years.
Scholarships may be awarded to cover expenses related to participation in conferences, provided that the applicant gives an oral or poster presentation, as well as participation in schools, research visits, internships, or other professional development activities.
If, due to changed circumstances, the awarded scholarship will no longer be used for the purpose stated in the application—for example, if the event is cancelled, alternative funding is obtained, or the recipient is unable to travel—the recipient must inform the LNA President as soon as possible. The recipient must submit a written request in a free-form format to cancel the scholarship and return the funds to the LNA bank account if they have already been transferred. A new application must be submitted under the standard procedure to obtain funding for another activity.
Within 60 days after using the funds or completing the research visit, conference, school, or other activity, the scholarship recipient must submit a report and at least one document confirming participation in the relevant activity, such as a copy of the programme, an invitation, a certificate, or a reference from the research visit supervisor (Annex 3).
Priority is given to researchers preparing doctoral dissertations. Where applications are of comparable merit, priority may also be determined by the academic level of the event and the applicant’s contribution to LNA activities.
Failure to submit the report within the specified period automatically results in the loss of eligibility to apply for another scholarship.
A list of awarded scholarships is published on the LNA website, specifying the recipient, the amount awarded, the purpose of the visit, and a brief description of the outcomes, such as a presentation delivered or a research method acquired.

Network of European Neuroscience Schools
NENS offers master’s and doctoral students opportunities to participate in NENS schools or programmes lasting between one and three months in different European countries, with the aim of learning new research methods.
